Down Time Scuba and Charters - PADI Dive Center Visit the Thumb Bottomland Preserve!    Learn to Dive! Down Time is a PADI Dive Center located in Port Austin, Michigan, just about two and a half hours north of Detroit. Through our lessons, you will become a PADI certified diver and be able to rent equipment and dive around the world! Chuck, our instructor, is PADI certified to instruct through the Divemaster level. If you are new to diving, the class that you would be taking would be the Open Water Diver Course. The PADI Open Water Course is $600 for 2005 and includes the use of all equipment, air tanks, pool time and boat rides for the length of the course. If you are really interested in pursuing diving, we recommend buying at least some of your equipment at the start of the course so that you can be comfortable learning with YOUR equipment. We offer great deals to our students! The PADI Open Water Course can be completed in as little as 4 to 5 days. These can be done in one week, several weekends, or any combination of days throughout the summer that you are available! Our classes start whenever you are ready - there are no set days or times to wait for. The class usually takes about 5 hours of bookwork (one day) - or use a CD if you prefer! - 3 pool sessions and 2 days of 2 open water dives each day.
